Bradford Freeman (1839-1875)

article_bf.jpg (35327 bytes)Little is known about the artist Bradford Freeman.  During the 1860 Boston census, he was 21 years old and living with his parents and sister in Boston.   Consistent with the few paintings he is known to have painted, he may have died about 1870.  He exhibited with Benjamin Champney (1817-1907) as evidenced by the following excerpt from the Boston Daily Evening Transcript of Thursday, April 23, 1868: "Champney is busy getting pictures ready for his sale next week, in conjunction with Bricher, Johnston, and Freeman."  He died in Boston in March, 1875 of dropsy.

Apennines, Lake Como

In the Woods
Exhibited at the Boston Atheneum, 1862, second exhibition of the year.

Lake Winnepesaukee [sic]
Exhibited at the Boston Atheneum, 1858, second exhibition of the year, 32nd exhibition, #73.

Mount Washington and North Conway
Oil on canvas, S/L/L BRADFORD FREEMAN,  c. 1868, 24" x 36".

Rocks at Nahant
Opera House Art Association, Chicago, June 1866.

Summer Afternoon
Exhibited at the Boston Atheneum, 1861, #321.
