S. Ellen Blackwell (?-?)

S. Ellen Blackwell was a genre painter who was active in the 1860's.  She exhibited at the National Academy of Design from 1860 to 1866,  giving her addresses as various locations in New York City.  She exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1861.

Her White Mountain paintings include On the Ellis River (oil on paper, 3 x 4 inches), and Chocorua Mountain (oil, 4 x 7 1/4 inches).
