Help on Using the Site
For optimal performance, please use a screen resolution of at least 1280 x 800 pixels.
There are many small images throughout the site. Whenever a small image is displayed, just click on it to display a full-page version of the image. Whenever you see an artist's name under an image, click on the name to display a biography of the artist. To see a full-page version, click on the image below. To see a biography of Thomas Hill, click on his name below the image.
If the artist's name in his/her biography is a link, click on the link to display a gallery of the artist's work. The example below is from the first line of the Thomas Hill biography. Click on the name to see what happens.

The title under an image can be clicked on to get a gallery of other images of the same subject. Click on Eagle Cliff to see what happens.
If the title of the subject gallery is a link, it will lead you to an actual photograph of the subject. For example, see the Mount Lafayette Gallery and click on Mount Lafayette.
When viewing full page images, you may find a link called Photo Comparison. Clicking on this link will show you a comparison of the painting with an actual photograph of the scene. Many paintings have areas where it's appropriate to see more detail. Under the painting description, you may see the heading Detail(s). This heading will be followed by one or more detailed images from the painting. See Mount Washington by Bradford Freeman for an example.
