Thomas Edwards was a Boston portrait and landscape artist. He was born in London and studied at the Royal Academy.

Edward worked in Boston from the 1820s into the 1850s. Edwards worked for the Pendleton Lithographic Company. He exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum and the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association in 1847. In 1855 he exhibited at No.43 Tremont Row, Boston. The Boston Daily Atlas reported on April 21, 1855, “a collection of about 75 landscapes and other original compositions … all finished by him during the last few years. The subjects are chiefly views of American scenery, mostly in New England, a few views in the Western states, White Mountains, and other interesting local scenes, all painted from sketches taken on the spot.”

Edwards is probably the artist identified with Benjamin Champney and Alfred Ordway in Daniel Huntington’s sketch, Artists Sketching at Chocorua Pond, New Hampshire September 28, 1854, in the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum Collection.
