Pietersz was born in Amsterdam, Holland in 1869. He studied in Rotterdam with H. W. Ranger. He was a painter, writer, and teacher. He appears to have spent much of his time around the Monadnock region. He exhibited at the Jordan Marsh Art Gallery in Boston from 1894 to 1896.
He was a member of the American Federation of Arts, the American Artists Professional League, and the Springfield Artists League. His work has been preserved at the Springfield, MA Art Museum. Springfield, MA was his last known address.
His New Hampshire paintings include Grand Monadnock over the Mist (High Museum), October in New Hampshire (Jordan Marsh Art Gallery), and View of Crotched Mountain (Antiques Magazine, September 1975).
