There is very little information on this artist. His style, however, is so similar to William F. Paskell that it is believed that the name Peter Van Saul was fictitious and used to sign unsigned works of Paskell. There are known Van Saul paintings of White Mountain subjects, for example Mount Washington. There are printed studio labels on the backs of paintings and a letter by van Saul on printed letterhead to the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C. in 1947 indicating that van Saul had an address in Norwood , Mass.
